Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth typed into one of the search boxes goes directly to the outside company that runs that search. The partner processes the input and returns the results. Those terms are not captured or stored on this end.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to this site is kept so it can be answered. Messages stay with the small team that runs the site and are not passed to anyone outside it unless a legal duty requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Technical details about a visit are recorded each time a page loads:
- The IP address assigned to the device making the request
- The browser in use and its version number
- The device type and operating system
- Which pages were opened and how long each stayed on screen
- The referring site, when one exists
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
Small files called cookies are stored on your device so that visit patterns become visible, such as which pages draw the most traffic and where readers leave. Analytics services aggregate that information. Browser settings can block cookies at any time, though a few parts of the site may behave differently once they are blocked.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site online, stable, and quick to load
- Forwarding a search request to the correct partner service
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which need rewording
- Diagnosing and repairing technical faults
- Showing advertising that may match a visitor's interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant-record information. What it publishes is general guidance about where Nantucket County warrant records are held and how to check them, which means the issuing Trial Court department, the clerk's office that keeps the file, and the internal state system that authorized users reach. Nothing collected about visitors is assembled into consumer reports or files about other people, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes here are operated by outside companies. Anything entered into one of those tools is handled under that partner's privacy policy, not this one. Each partner sets its own retention and sharing rules, and those rules are outside this site's control. Read the partner's policy before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link out to court locations, the sheriff's office, the town records portal, legal-aid groups, and outside search services. Following one of those links leaves this site, and the destination's privacy policy then governs the visit. Read that policy before sharing personal details.
Some advertising partners may track activity across multiple sites in order to target ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not this one.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold here. A limited set of parties may still receive some of it:
- Search partners that process a query run from this site
- Analytics providers used to measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on these pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Ordinary security practices are used to guard whatever is collected. No internet-connected system is immune to trouble, so protection is a matter of effort rather than a guarantee, and a breach cannot be ruled out entirely.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. Personal information from anyone under 18 is not knowingly collected. If a minor's data is believed to have reached this site, say so and it will be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
Massachusetts law shapes what can be requested from a private site and from a public agency. The Massachusetts Public Records Law, G.L. c.66, governs records held by public bodies, with the definition of a public record and its exemptions set out in G.L. c.4 §7(26). Where a request is directed to this site, you can at a minimum:
- Ask for a copy of what is held on file about you
- Have incorrect information corrected
- Ask that your data be erased
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy can change. A revised version replaces the old one on this page and carries a new effective date, so check back if you want to follow how visitor information is handled.
