Nantucket County Warrant Records Nantucket County Warrant Records

A question about an official Nantucket County warrant belongs with the office that holds the file. Not with a private website. Start with the court named on the notice in hand. A District Court matter goes to the District Court clerk. A Superior Court matter goes to the Superior Court clerk. A police report request goes to the department records officer. The routing below sends each kind of question to the counter that can actually answer it, along with the addresses, phone numbers, and office hours for each.

This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot confirm whether a warrant exists, recall or clear a warrant, post bond, arrange a surrender, or give legal advice for anyone. For any of those, you need the issuing court or a licensed Massachusetts attorney.

Need Official Warrant Information?

Most people arrive with one of five questions. Match the question to the office below before you call.

  • Whether a warrant exists on a District Court case: the Nantucket District Court clerk's office, which holds criminal complaints, most failure-to-appear defaults, motor-vehicle matters, and local bylaw cases
  • Whether a warrant exists on an indicted felony case: the Nantucket County Superior Court clerk's office, which holds the Superior criminal docket
  • What a public docket shows: MassCourts Case Access, which publishes limited docket information and states that its data is not the official court record
  • An existing police report: the Nantucket Police Department records officer through the town public-records request portal
  • Resolving or clearing a warrant: a licensed Massachusetts attorney and the issuing court, for a motion to remove default, a recall, a surrender, or bond

For the local Trial Court departments, the records counters are the clerks' offices at 16 Broad Street. The District Court clerk's office is 508-228-0460 and cmnantucketdc@jud.state.ma.us, with weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Superior Court clerk's office is 508-228-2559 and SCNantucket@jud.state.ma.us, with weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both can explain filing and appearance mechanics for their own docket, and neither one provides legal advice or a same-day phone confirmation of an internal warrant status.

The Nantucket County Sheriff's Office publishes its own administrative contact at 20 South Water Street, P.O. Box 419, Nantucket, MA 02554, by phone at 508-228-7263, with weekday hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its published services cover court and inmate transport, Barnstable correctional transport, and civil and judicial process. No warrant-specific public hotline or public warrant roster was located on the sheriff's official pages. The Nantucket Police Department at 4 Fairgrounds Road answers non-emergency calls at 508-228-1212. Deputy Chief Charles Gibson is the department records access officer, and the town's records access officer is Maureen Coleman at 508-228-7200 ext. 7341. Legal-help routing for a criminal charge is handled through the state's finding legal help page.

Have three things ready before you call: the full legal name on the case, a date of birth, and any docket or citation number printed on the notice. A common name without a second identifier sends a Nantucket clerk through far more files than the question needs. District Court dockets here carry county code 88 and Superior criminal dockets carry code 75, so the number itself tells you which clerk to ask for.

Expect a records request to take time. Under the Massachusetts Public Records Law, a records access officer answers within ten business days or explains in writing why production will take longer. The Nantucket Town Clerk keeps town meeting warrants, vital records, and land records rather than criminal files, so a call there will not confirm a court warrant.
